A local coffee shop is more than just a corner drive-thru. It’s a place where people come together, where baristas recognize you and remember your order, where a quick conversation turns into an hour-long chat, and where we get to know the people who support us.
At Modern Grind, we create that sense of belonging. We strive to brew your morning coffee while building community spirit every day. Building community means giving back to those who support us through fundraisers and donations, and also supporting local suppliers and producers.
One example is our partnership with Clay Coffee Co., a family-owned roaster in Phoenix that supplies our coffee beans. Working alongside other family-owned businesses lets us uplift our community while providing quality beans from places such as Guatemala and Mexico. With every sip of our coffee, you support us and a variety of families and businesses around the West Valley.
Modern Grind also uplifts local schools, clubs and youth teams with two unique fundraising opportunities. Our drive-thru fundraiser lets organizations receive 10% of sales on a chosen date.
This means that your morning latte, smoothie or sandwich is fueling you and the next generation. This effort helps local teams access new equipment, local schools expand after-school programs, and clubs give students more opportunities to dive into projects they are passionate about. Each month, we’re committed to donating up to 5% of our earnings to community projects and initiatives. Patrons can also request donations through our website, if there is a specific cause they would like to see us donate to.
Another important part of engaging with our community is celebrating individuals who share Modern Grind's values, similar to our local heroes. Our local heroes continually show up for their neighbors, and we want to show up for them! Through our Local Hero program, people can nominate charitable community members who are then recognized on our social media accounts. These local heroes are everyday people who continually contribute positively to the community and, as a thank-you, receive a breakfast & coffee, as well as other recognition. Coffee with Vets, a regular event at our flagship Avondale location, strives to create a welcoming environment where veterans can comfortably sit, share a cup and share their stories with people who understand their experiences.
At Modern Grind, community matters because you keep us going strong. The support from our regulars and new patrons lets us reinvest in our community. We know you have plenty of options when choosing your morning or afternoon coffee shop. We are grateful for every morning you choose to spend with us.
